Grand Theft Auto 6 Development Continues Uninterrupted Despite SAG-AFTRA Strike

Despite SAG-AFTRA going through with the strike threatened this week, Grand Theft Auto 6 is exempt from the strike although parent Take-Two Interactive is on the list of companies affected.
As mentioned in the SAG-AFTRA voice actors strike announcement, there will be exceptions when it comes to game development and today, Kotaku has confirmed that the most anticipated game, Grand Theft Auto 6 , will be unaffected by the strike. While many other titles will be affected severely by the no-work order put forward by the strike, — especially titles produced from the companies listed below — including Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar will remain unaffected. Below is a list of the companies struck by the SAG-AFTRA strike order.
Activision Productions Inc.
Blindlight LLC
Disney Character Voices International Inc.
Electronic Arts Inc.
Formosa Interactive LLC
Insomniac Games Inc.
Llama Productions LLC
Take-two Productions Inc.
VoiceWorks Productions Inc.
WB Games Inc.
It’s worth noting that while a lot of the gaming industry work has been stopped due to the strike, members may work on non-IMA SAG contracts, and SAG members can work under other union contracts, as per the strike FAQ page . The last time SAG-AFTRA went on strike to bat for voice actors, the issue was mainly a lack of residuals for actors (which, as of this post, still has yet to be implemented), but they eventually came to a three-year agreement.
Grand Theft Auto 6 has been confirmed to be unaffected by typing “ Grand Theft Auto 6 ” into the database of titles or work IDs on the SAG-AFTRA database website. The message posted above is what happens when Grand Theft Auto 6 is mentioned. Fans can use this nifty tool to search for in-development titles and confirm whether they are affected by the strike or not. Fans should be vigilant about correctly typing title names; even one mistype will give an incorrect result.
While Grand Theft Auto 6 is still in development, its scheduled release date is Autumn 2025. Fans can catch up with all of the news about the ongoing strike by heading to the official SAG-AFTRA site .
