Which Olympic Sports Would the Real Housewives Be Great At?

The Summer 2024 Olympics have arrived. The events will be held in Paris, with high expectations from each country and no air-conditioning in the village. While I live for cheering on the athletes, specifically in women’s soccer, I couldn’t help but wonder how some of the Real Housewives would fare and what they would qualify for. Our special group of women is known for their theatrics, drink throwing, and bone collecting. And while none of these are Olympic sports just yet the women could excel in some other categories.

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City – Meredith Marks

Growing up in the Windy City, Meredith Marks isn’t opposed to the cold weather. So, it wouldn’t be too hard to imagine that she could do well in the Winter Olympics. If I had to pick an event for the mother of three, I’d say Alpine Skiing. This particular event can be traced back to prehistoric times, according to the Olympics website , “thanks to the discovery of varying sizes and shapes of wooden planks preserved in peat bogs in Russia, Finland, Sweden, and Norway.”

Meredith’s home city, Salt Lake City, is also a well-known place to access world-class ski resorts. In 2002, the city hosted the Winter Olympics. Fans have watched Meredith ski well with her family, and if she had a decent coach, she might be able to take the gold home to Team USA. Eat your heart out, Lindsey Vonn.

Real Housewives of New Jersey – Margaret Josephs

All I have to say is “You’re husband is in the pool.” Margaret Josephs is competitive. There is no doubt about it. So, I would put her into the diving category for the Summer Olympics. Once called “Fancy Diving,” the event came about in the early 19th century when gymnasts in Germany and Sweden popularised the technique. Margaret is known for her acrobatics and never misses a chance to make herself the prettiest of the bunch. I’d argue that Margaret has a keen aqua sense and would get tens across the board.

Real Housewives of Dubai – Chanel Ayan

Chanel Ayan commands the stage on every runway she walks. So it isn’t a far reach that she would also command the Track and Field arena. With her extremely long legs, I could see Chanel completing some of the best high jumps. The famed event has run since 1928 for the women’s division. At the beginning of the event, athletes were asked to do the high jump from a standing position. Chanel could also kill in the hurdles. Again, thanks to her long legs, the mother of one could clear any obstacle with a breeze.

Real Housewives alum – Luann de Lesseps

With a 5’10″ frame, Luann de Lesseps would dominate the court in Volleyball. The Countess would be a middle hitter and in charge of blocking the opposing team from trying to score points. Luann’s height would be an advantage to the role when it comes to offensive and defensive play. The game of volleyball was introduced in 1964 during the Tokyo Games. There is no doubt in my mind Luann would be singing the national anthem, cabaret style of course, on the podium.

RHONY ladies – Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer

Picture it: The Singer Stinger and Sonjarita take the cart for team badminton. Both Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan are women who know what they want. And while they are not all that physical, the game of badminton could be right up their alley. They would get to wear cute, matching outfits and hydrate (no judgment if there is vodka in the water bottle,) and they both love chasing after a cock shuttlecock. Sonja and Ramona both are decent tennis players and I feel their talents would translate well to this particular racket sport.

Originally, the game was played among the wealthier classes in Europe, so I don’t see either woman failing to blend in. Both have rubbed elbows with plenty of elite peers. So, as the athletes prepare for the opening ceremonies on July 26, take a moment to think of the Real Housewives who could donne the official Ralph Lauren get up and wave their flags proudly. I know it is a pipe dream, but I wouldn’t mind seeing this line-up on NBC Sports; I’m just saying.
