Jensen Ackles is giving fans of The Boys more of his character, Soldier Boy, this time in a spinoff called Vought Rising .

On Friday, the 46-year-old actor surprised the audience at San Diego Comic-Con by coming out and announcing that not only will he return as the hilariously out-of-touch anti-hero Soldier Boy in season 5 of The Boys -- aka the final season -- but he will soon lead a prequel for Prime Video revolving around his character in 1950s New York City.

Vought Rising will also see the return of Aya Cash's Stormfront -- a diabolical and deranged supe with Nazi ideals. She first popped up in season 2 of The Boys and made minor appearances in season 3 before her character's death.Ackles -- who previously worked with executive producer Eric Kripke on Supernatural -- made his first appearance in season 3 of the hit Prime Video series and also made a guest appearance in Gen V season 1.

During the Hall H panel inside Comic-Con on Friday, Cash, 42, similarly graced fans with her presence (via a pre-recorded video), telling the crowd that she has read the scripts and that the show will include references spanning Judy Garland to Joe McCarthy. Outside of that, few details have been released about the series.

"We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought," said Kripke and series showrunner and executive producer Paul Grellong in a statement.

They continued, "We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V."

The Boys -- which is based on a comic book series of the same name -- has already inspired one massive spinoff, Gen V , which follows students at Godolkin University -- a college specifically for supes. That show stars Maddie Phillips, Lizze Broadway, Jaz Sinclair, Asa Germann and Chance Perdomo -- who died in a motorcycle accident in March at the age of 27.

A first-look teaser shown during the Hall H panel on Friday showed the characters coping with the loss of Perdomo's character, which writers confirmed in May they would not be recasting after the actor's death. Gen V season 2 will premiere in 2025.

Meanwhile, The Boys season 5 is slated to release purportedly in 2026. Kripke said that scriptwriting is underway -- roughly two months in -- and that they are full steam ahead on the final season.

ET recently spoke with executive producer Seth Rogen about how he feels about the show coming to an end after five amazing seasons.

"[Eric] Kripke, the showrunner and creator, always had a plan for the show. The comic itself has kind of like an ending... it's not one of those things that goes on forever," he shared. "He's smart in knowing how much is too much and how long to have it go on for and to kind of end it as it’s still very popular... I'm thrilled about it. I'm amazed it's gone on this long, honestly."
