Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Tagovailoa is signing a four-year, $212.4 million extension with $167 million guaranteed. It is the largest contract in franchise history.

Selected with the fifth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Tagovailoa has thrived the last two seasons under head coach Mike McDaniel.

The 2023-2024 season was Tagovailoa’s best as a pro. The 26-year-old led the NFL with 4,624 passing yards, throwing for 29 touchdowns, 14 interceptions, and a 101.1 passer rating.

Tagovailoa started all 17 games and represented the AFC in the Pro Bowl.

Tagovailoa’s success helped the Dolphins reach the playoffs for the second straight season. However, the Dolphins lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card round.
