👔Patti Powers tapped as new director for Sandusky County Share and Care

    Good morning, Sandusky County.

The heat looks like it will continue, with a slight drop in temperatures from over the weekend, but don't think that it will be more pleasant. The high should be 88 degrees, with a low tonight of 71 degrees. Those temps should feel at least as hot as the weekend was, thanks to the 60% chance of thunderstorms.

The Sandusky County Share and Care nonprofit ministry , which uses revenues from its thrift stores to support county residents, has a new executive director.

Our article, by correspondent Melissa Baker, covers a lot of news about the thrift store.

Patti Powers, hired in June, was a development fundraiser at Easter Seals for 18 years and, more recently, served as the community outreach coordinator for the Brain Injury Association of Ohio.

Powers had the first Share and Care booth at a recent weekend Farmers Market in downtown Fremont. The booth featured balloon-making for children and jewelry for sale.

Scout Troop 316, from Oak Harbor, is famous in Ottawa County for their shakes. Nope, it's not a new dance or a disease, they make apple butter milkshakes at the Ottawa County Fair .

I believe they are simply soft-serve vanilla ice cream, with apple butter mixed in. Maybe there's some sort of secret sauce, but the scouts are telling.

Kale John, 16, left, and Micah Wonderly, 16 , right, juniors at Oak Harbor High School, were very busy selling and mixing up the popular shakes. They had the one food booth at the fair which almost constantly had a line, and it was the milkshakes that were most popular.
