Anderson received the maximum penalty for the second-degree murder charge: 40 years at 100%.

The court also imposed a penalty of 35 years at 100% to be served consecutively for the attempted murder charge.

The total 75 years must be served consecutively with Anderson’s prior sentences. In total, Finney stated that Anderson would serve 95 years, 11 months and 29 days in prison.

The second-degree murder charge stems from March 18, 2022, when Anderson shot and killed Tester.

On Oct. 22, 2022, Anderson was an inmate at the Washington County Detention Center. While incarcerated, he repeatedly stabbed another inmate, resulting in his attempted murder charge .
