After four years on the job, the Jasper County Superintendent said that she found out that she was put on administrative leave through media coverage, not the board itself.

The Jasper County Board of Education placed Rechel Anderson on leave last week and she says she doesn’t know why.

“I would like to say that I have not done anything to warrant this action by the board. I have not engaged in any misconduct or done anything to violate district policy,” Anderson said in a statement.

Anderson also said that she would like to see the matter resolved quickly so she can focus on the upcoming school year and that she couldn’t provide a more detailed statement since she hadn’t been given the reason for her suspension.

District sources tell News 3 that there may be a special meeting on Monday that hasn’t been posted yet.

WSAV will update when there is more information available.
