Mail-in ballots shipped ahead of Massachusetts primary

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Registered voters are expected to begin receiving their official 2024 vote-by-mail application.

Springfield Election Commissioner Gladys Oyola Lopez told 22News that have close to 9,000 people who have already requested their mail-in ballots ahead of the state primary on September 3rd.

Voters who would like to vote by mail can utilize the pre-addressed postage prepaid application to request their ballot. While un-enrolled voters can vote in the party primary of their choice
but must indicate which one on their ballot selection.

Lopez believes that having these different options to vote makes it accessible for everyone to take part in elections, “The more options, the better some people aren’t comfortable they might not be Mobile can’t make it to the polls. Some people we have students that go away right during election season right in that first week of election so it’s just giving people the flexibility to vote the way they choose to vote.”

On the ballot this year will be local offices which are district state rep and state Senate office.
There are also U.S. congressional offices for state U.S. Senate and U.S. representatives, clerk of courts, and register of deeds among others.

The vote-by-mail application deadline is August 26th.
