Wake detainee dies at hospital

A man being detained by Wake County authorities on an out-of-state warrant has died.

On July 8, 52-year-old Jared Lake Lewis was processed into the Wake County Detention Center on a warrant for his arrest issued by an out-of-state agency. Upon arrival, he was placed under immediate medical observation.

Due to a medical emergency on July 17, Lewis was transported to the hospital.

In the morning hours of July 26, Lewis died at the hospital.



The Wake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.
