LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to avoid an area while officers respond to a potential hazmat situation.

The sheriff’s office is telling residents to avoid the area of Zehner Road south of New Cut Road.

Earlier today, deputies responded to an incident involving potentially hazardous materials that were thrown out in a bag by a suspect, who is now in custody.

As a precautionary measure, the sheriff’s office says that the Huntsville Police Department’s Bomb Squad is at the scene to examine the materials.
