The 2024 trade deadline is quickly approaching, and the market is heating up. The AL East Trade Deadline should be very fun to see as the contenders try to bolster their rosters and the sellers try to get value for their players. Here's a quick preview of what each team wants to do at this year's deadline.

    #1: Baltimore Orioles

Current Status: Buyers Players On The Block: #2 Prospect C/1B Samuel Basallo #3 Prospect 1B/3B Coby Mayo #5 Prospect 2B/OF Connor Norby

The Orioles are likely to be among the biggest buyers at this year's deadline with a need for pitching. They are the second-best team in the American League, but the Yankees are close behind them and ready to take back the lead of the AL East. They've been linked with names like Garrett Crochet and Tarik Skubal, which will both cost a good amount of prospects to get. Samuel Basallo and Coby Mayo are their top trade pieces, as both rank high in the MLB's Top 100 prospects. Connor Norby could also be an interesting piece because of his defensive versatility.

    #2: New York Yankees

Current Status: Buyers Players On The Block: #2 Prospect OF Spencer Jones #3 Prospect RHP Chase Hampton 2B Gleyber Torres

The Yankees looked like world-beaters not long ago but have sputtered lately. Their lineup has been atrocious outside of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto. They will likely trade top prospects for hitting talent, as Soto is in the last year of his team control years and will be hitting free agency. Gleyber Torres has been struggling this year and will be a free agent after this season, which could cause the Yankees to deal him at this year's deadline to get some value back for him.

    #3: Boston Red Sox

Current Status: Buyers Players On The Block: #6 Prospect INF Nick Yorke #9 Prospect RHP Luis Perales #19 Prospect 1B/3B Blaze Jordan

The Red Sox have been surprise playoff contenders this season, but the cracks are starting to show. They need to acquire starting pitching, and they have some pieces to make it happen. Nick Yorke and Blaze Jordan are blocked in the Red Sox major league roster and have some high value. Perales is one of their top pitching prospects, but with the Red Sox's ability to develop pitching, he could be on the move to acquire a better starting pitcher now.

    #4: Tampa Bay Rays

    Current Status: Sellers

Players On The Block: SP Zach Eflin SP Zack Littell 3B Isaac Paredes 1B Yandy Diaz OF Randy Arozarena

The Rays have Drew Rasmussen and Jeffrey Springs returning soon, which will give them seven viable starting options. Eflin and Littell are both likely options for them to deal to create space in the rotation, and the market for their services should be large. Diaz and Arozarena are both having down years but were two of the best players at their respective positions going into 2024. Paredes should have the largest market of all position players in baseball besides Luis Robert. He's an All-Star heading into his prime, and any team will give the Rays a haul to get him.

    #5: Toronto Blue Jays

    Current Status: Sellers

Players On The Block: SP Yusei Kikuchi RP Yimi Garcia C Danny Jansen

The Blue Jays have completely fallen off this year, but they are signaling that they are hesitant to blow it up. Yusei Kikuchi will likely be traded because he is a very valuable left-handed starter, and Yimi Garcia has been a great bullpen option. Danny Jansen is one of the top-catching talents on the market, as he has been great for the team for a while now. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette will unlikely be traded as the Blue Jays front office would still like to compete in 2025.
