    Man that paralyzed child in Sacramento County DUI crash facing 32 years in prison

    (FOX40.COM) — The man who paralyzed a 4-year-old girl while driving under the influence in 2022 has been charged by a Sacramento County jury, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.

    At 9 a.m. on Oct. 24, 2022, while under the influence of methamphetamine and fentanyl John Hart stole a dully pickup truck.

    He was speeding down Roseville Road when he crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a mother, father and their 4-year-old daughter while the family was heading to preschool.

    The collision left the child paralyzed from multiple fractures to her spine in her lower body.

    In the years following the crash, she has been able to regain some movement in her upper-body along with the ability to speak and eat.

    Her parents each sustained broken legs, broken ribs and other injuries.

    Hart is scheduled for sentencing on Aug. 16 where he will face a potential sentence of 32 years and four months in prison.
