After an offseason full of hot takes and debates, the Miami Dolphins finally silenced all the wonderers by agreeing to a new massive long-term contract extension with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

The new deal will pay Tagovailoa $214.4 million over four years, per multiple reports, giving the former No. 5 overall pick an average annual salary of $53.1 million.

So, where does that put Tagovailoa among the NFL's highest-paid quarterbacks heading into the 2024 season?

ESPN's Adam Schefter has the breakdown here:

Two of the names on that list are from the same NFL draft class that produced Tagovailoa. Joe Burrow was the No. 1 overall pick in 2020 by the Cincinnati Bengals, and is currently the highest-paid quarterback in the league based on average annual salary. Tagovailoa's deal comes in just ahead of the one recently signed by Justin Herbert, who was selected one pick after Tagovailoa by the Los Angeles Chargers in that same draft.

This is a massive win for Tagovailoa, who struggled with injuries and inconsistency earlier in his career, but has clearly found the perfect home in head coach Mike McDaniel's offense.

Between McDaniel's creative, innovative scheme, and a vast array of explosive weapons that includes Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, Tagovailoa should have everything he needs to live up to his massive pay day.

Hopefully, he's able to stay healthy and continue his growth and development without having to deal with the distraction of contract negotiations anymore.
