VIRGINIA ( DC News Now ) — A woman from the District is facing a felony charge related to the 2023 escape of a Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) inmate.

VDOC announced Friday that Sasha Castillo was charged with Persons aiding escape of a prisoner.

The indictment stemmed from the escape of inmate Naseem Isaiah Roulack, who escaped custody at Henrico County hospital in August 2023.

Officers were not able to find him or return him into custody until October of that year.

“The Virginia Department of Corrections continues to pursue the prosecution of all involved in this escape,” said VADOC Director Chad Dotson in a news release. “Inmates who escape or attempt to escape state custody and those who aid and abet them must always face justice for their actions.”

Castillo’s trial date has not yet been set. A City of Richmond grand jury indicted her on July 1.
