NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Some low-income residents affected by recent wildfires and flooding in northern New Mexico, will be eligible for help in getting food on the table. The Department of Agriculture is extending the D-SNAP program to over 25,000 additional households that did not fall under the program in San Juan and Rio Arriba counties.

June SNAP benefits see $135 boost. Do you qualify?

Officials say to be eligible for D-SNAP, a household must live or work in an identified disaster area, have been affected by the disaster, and meet certain D-SNAP eligibility criteria. Those households will receive one month of benefits, equal to the maximum monthly amount of a SNAP household of their size. They can use the funds to purchase groceries at SNAP-authorized stores or from select online retailers .

More information about SNAP benefits is available on the USDA website .
