    Fairfax County officer plays key role in arrest of Maryland man involved in child exploitation

    FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said one of its officers played a key role in the arrest of a Maryland man involved in child exploitation.

    FCPD said that on July 18, police got a tip that 68-year-old Joseph Muir Osborne from Maryland allegedly used online platforms to interact in sexually explicit conversations with an undercover officer.

    Osborne provided the officer with illegal pictures of underage children. Police also found evidence of him communicating with a minor in Maryland.

    Police, in collaboration with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Osborne.

    He is facing 25 counts of Distribution of Child Pornography and one count of Distribution of Bestiality.

    Osborne is being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on other child exploitation-related charges.

    He is awaiting extradition to Fairfax County.
