What the Tua Tagovailoa extension means for Josh Allen and the Bills

The Miami Dolphins recently locked up Tua Tagovailoa with a massive $212 million dollar contract, cementing him as their franchise quarterback for the next handful of years. This makes Tagovailoa the newly highest paid quarterback in a division that has Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers, which in a vacuum certainly is an interesting perspective on how the quarterback market stands.

For the Buffalo Bills and their own highly paid quarterback Josh Allen, the new contract highlights just how valuable signing Allen when they did makes him an amazing value given the level that quarterbacks a tier or more below him are getting paid at. With the Bills paying Allen a whole $10 million dollars less a year than Tagovailoa, this is sure to accelerate the need to get Allen an extension before his contract is set to expire in 2028. Don't be surprised if going into next season Allen is handed a nice new contract to make him the highest paid quarterback in the AFC East once again, the Bills and Allen's agent both know he deserves it.
