Many Liverpool fans overran the club's official social media account on the platform X after the Reds posted their team sheet on a graphic before facing Real Betis in the preseason on Friday night .

Liverpool's graphic put players in numerical order rather than giving any indication of which formation head coach Arne Slot would deploy in the United States tour match. Supporters weren't happy.

“Slot hasn't brought back the lineups in position order," wrote one fan. "Worrying signs.” Added another with a tongue-in-cheek remark: “New season, pack it in with this number order lads. Leave it in the past. Change is good.”

“Stop this stupid number order thing or I’m drawing a ----- on Arne’s bald head,” joked one Reds supporter.

Team sheets are often the subject of lighthearted debate as a critical part of a match build-up process. Clubs have presented them in countless ways. Generally, though, fans enjoy seeing a quick hint of the shape a team will play in from kickoff.

Liverpool vs Real Betis kicks off after midnight in England but at 7:30 p.m. local time in Pittsburgh. It will be available to watch live on both sides of the Atlantic .

The Reds are embarking on yet another United States preseason tour, continuing to expand their global footprint. They hold a strong base of supporters in the U.S. that was greatly strengthened during Jurgen Klopp's massively successful time at the helm.

Slot will look to capture the imagination of fans with his own style after taking over this summer. As players trickle back to his camp from various international responsibilities, excitement has grown.

"I assume this, but the resistance of the teams we play is strong," the Dutchman told the Reds' official website recently. "We are trying to implement the ideas and keep doing what we have done so well. Keeping the boys fit - that’s the first aim.

"Those things are the first aim and then with all the players coming back I think the quality will definitely go up a lot as well and these two things - training sessions and boys coming back in - will help us to play even better than we did."

After facing Real Betis, Liverpool will meet Arsenal, Manchester United and Sevilla to round out its preseason schedule. Then, the club will begin its Premier League season against Ipswich Town on Aug. 17.
