Target Is Selling a 'Must-Have' $22 Sweater Vest So Similar to a Best-Selling Madewell Style Almost 3x the Price

Buttoned sweater vests have been making a comeback recently, as it’s a summer style that works with layers or on its own. And Target has a new sweater vest that is not only super cute in general, but it’s also very similar to a best-selling Madewell style that’s almost three times the price.

Target’s new Women's Button-Front Sweater Vest by Universal Thread is currently $22 and already a favorite amongst shoppers. It’s a fitted, cropped vest with a line of buttons down the front that creates a v-neck at the top and an open hem because they don’t go all the way down. It’s made from a lightweight “cotton-blend shaker fabric” made out of 93% cotton and 7% nylon.

The sweater vest comes in two neutral colors—charcoal gray and tan—and a range of sizes, from XS to 4X (though some sizes are already sold out). As we mentioned, shoppers are flocking to this vest because of how cute it is and how much it resembles a Madewell vest.

A Target shopping Instagram account, @best.of.target , posted these vests with the on-screen text saying, "Madewell or Target."

"You will be styling this sweater all year round!" they wrote in their caption.

The comments also seemed really into the vests, saying things like, "She real cute" and "Omg it’s so pretty!!" One reviewer on Target’s site even mentioned it was a “Madewell dupe” as well.

"Very impressed with the quality!” the same shopper wrote in the rest of their review. “I got so many compliments wearing it and it also washed really well. Already bought the second color."

On its own, though, people really like it. One person wrote that this was a “must-have” and said that “everything about it is so wonderful” including “the fit, color, quality, and length.” Yet another shopper wrote they they “absolutely love this” vest.

“Good, soft quality and the tan is such a nice color,” they wrote.

It has a continuous ribbed hem all the way around, from the neckline and button-up area to the bottom hem. The buttons are white for all three available colors, which are True Black, Bright Ivory and Pale Pineapple. Madewell’s vest definitely has more of a cable knit texture and look and has a deeper v-neck and a little more length (though it’s still advertised as a cropped length). Plus the buttons go all the way down. It’s made from 70% cotton and 30% polyamide.

For a fraction of the price and a similar quality (based on reviews), Target’s Women's Button-Front Sweater Vest seems like a good product for a good price. So it’s definitely worth checking out for yourself.
