Disaster Loan Outreach Centers open in Posey, Gibson counties

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – According to Posey County Emergency Management, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) plans to open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) in Posey County to offer assistance to those residents affected by the July 9 tornado. The news release also indicates one will open in Gibson County.

Officials with the U.S. Small Business Administration say Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman made the loans available in response to a letter from Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb on July 19, requesting a disaster declaration by the SBA. Businesses and residents in the declared area can now apply for low-interest disaster loans from the SBA.

Officials say the declaration covers Gibson and Posey counties and the adjacent counties of Knox, Pike, Vanderburgh and Warrick in Indiana; Gallatin, Wabash and White in Illinois and Henderson and Union in Kentucky.

“The SBA is strongly committed to providing the people of Indiana with the most effective and customer-focused response possible to assist businesses of all sizes, homeowners, and renters with federal disaster loans,” said Guzman. “Getting businesses and communities up and running after a disaster is our highest priority at SBA.”

The SBA says it will open DLOCs to assist businesses and residents to complete their disaster loan applications, accept documents and provide updates on an application’s status. Walk-ins are accepted, but people can schedule an in-person appointment at an SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center in advance here .

Gibson County

• Owensville Fire Department at 200 South 1st Street in Owensville.
  • Opening:
    • July 26, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Hours:
    • Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Saturday, 10 a.m, to 2 p.m.
  • Closed: Sunday
  • Permanently Closes: August 10 at 2 p.m.

Posey County

• Posey County EMA at 305 Mill Street in Mt. Vernon.
  • Opening: July 26, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Hours:
    • Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Closed: Sunday
  • Permanently Closes: August 10 at 2 p.m.
