Hulu has cancelled the Amy Schumer-led dramedy Life & Beth after two seasons, TVLine has learned. The show’s sophomore finale, which dropped on Feb. 16 with the rest of Season 2, now serves as its series finale.
Life & Beth premiered on the streamer in March 2022 and starred Schumer as Beth, a woman who realized she was unhappy with her life after her mother unexpectedly died. In Season 2, Beth and her romantic partner John (played by Michael Cera) got married and welcomed a baby boy — but Beth’s sister, Ann (Susannah Flood), took off from the hospital just as Beth was going in for her C-section in the finale, despite agreeing to work through her agoraphobia in order to be there for the birth of Beth’s child.
When asked about a potential third season, Schumer told TVLine in February that she and Cera “both really would love to do it,” but she didn’t yet have a plan in mind for where Season 3 might take their characters.
“I think that’s something nice about the show,” she said. “We really want it to feel organic. So any sort of ideas that we might have, we’re very down to let them go for something that feels better [in the future].”
Life & Beth ‘s ensemble also included Laura Benanti, Michael Rapaport, Yamaneika Saunders, Sas Goldberg, Violet Young, Arielle Siegel and Kevin Kane. (On the bright side for Kane, he was promoted this week to series regular on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU , where he plays Det. Terry Bruno.)
