    Students facing housing insecurity celebrate finishing summer academic program

    At a recognition ceremony on Thursday, a student speaker stared down at the podium and read aloud his speech on what he learned in English 12, the class he took this summer at New Horizons Academy.

    The five-week program, run by the Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership of Frederick County (SHIP), offers high school graduation requirement courses to Frederick County Public School students experiencing housing instability.
