Rashawn Slater leaves Chargers training camp practice early

Rashawn Slater is one of the best offensive tackles in the NFL when healthy. The Los Angeles Chargers are counting on big things from the former first-round pick and All-Pro this year, particularly as they look to be a trenches-oriented team under Jim Harbaugh.

Well, there may have been a speed bump early in camp.

According to ESPN reporter Kris Rhim, Slater briefly left practice, then worked off to the side, then went back into the training facility today.

As of now, the team has not provided any update on the status of their left tackle. Defensive coordinator Jesse Minter was the coach at the podium today, and neither he nor any of the players would be the ones to share health updates.

Slater has struggled with injuries the past two seasons. In 2022, he only played two full games after tearing his bicep. In 2023, Slater reportedly played through a double high ankle sprain. Fans can only hope this is a minor setback and that his absence was merely a precaution.
