Britney Spears has insisted she didn't write a post that went out from her X account about singer, Halsey, branding it "fake news."

It comes after her account hit out at Halsey's video for 'bullying" - saying she feels "violated." She seemed to write on X, formerly known as Twitter : "For obvious reasons, I'm very upset about the Halsey video. I feel harassed, violated, and bullied. I didn't known an artist like her and someone I looked up to and admired would illustrate me in such an ignorant way by tailoring me as a superficial pop star with no heart or concern at all.

"I have my own health problems which is why I took down my IG account yesterday. I will definitely be putting it back up to show I CARE. I'm speaking with my lawyers to see what can be done on this matter. It feels illegal and down right cruel."

However, now the pop star claims that was "fake news" and wasn't her on her phone. She wrote: "That was not me on my phone !!! I love Halsey and that’s why I deleted it."

In Halsey's latest music video, she appears to reference the pop princess as she wears a crystal bodysuit paralleling the iconic look from Britney's Toxic. She dons a bright pink wig and appears on red carpets, appearing on posters, and being papped.

On the track, Halsey sings: “I shaved my head four times because I wanted to / And then I did it one more time ’cause I got sick. I left the doctor’s office full of tears / Became a single mom at my premiere / And I told everybody I was fine for a whole damn year / And that’s the biggest lie of my career.”

Halsey previously claimed that she received approval from Britney to sample her music in the song. She wrote on X: "I remember the first time I heard her sing lucky and it hitting me at such a young age that I had no idea what her life was really like. and that feeling resonates with me so much still. I found myself singing it when I started treatment and then I knew I had to do it."

In the video, Halsey takes off the wig to expose her bald head, a call back to her recent health issues. "Long story short, I’m Lucky to be alive. short story long, I wrote an album ," the musician wrote on Instagram as she shared videos from a recovery process from an unlabeled medical condition.
