Sharon Stone has revealed her "unsettling" career-long fear of being shot dead by a fan. The fear was passed down to her by Sylvester Stallone after a conversation the pair had .

The Sun reported that Sharon spoke at a Cannes charity gala about the conversation and how it sparked a new deep-rooted anxiety in her. "What Sly said to me is that suddenly you are walking down the street, everyone is doing this (reaching into their pocket) and you don't know if they are going for the pen or the gun," she shared.

"That's what becomes so unsettling because everybody is doing that, but you don't know why," she added.

Sharon continued: "You feel constantly in this unsettled place that you always have to figure it out and you have to fix it and be ready."

That fear is not far-fetched and a fan shooting a famous person has happened in the history of Hollywood. Being a celebrity comes with its perils, and no one knows that better than the 66-year-old actress who catapulted to fame after her breakout role in Basic Instinct . Her character in the film turned her into not only an overnight celebrity but a sex symbol as well, and she became the object of many men's obsessions.

Sharon played the seductive Catherine Tramell in the 1992 film. In one of the movie's most standout moments, Catherine is the prime suspect in a crime. While being questioned by police, in an attempt to distract and disarm them, she uncrosses then recrosses her legs, leaving the men flustered since she was not wearing any underwear. The scene was highly controversial at the time but has since become one of the most infamous in movie history.

Despite the moment turning Sharon into an overnight sensation, the actress has shared in the past that she was "tricked" into exposing herself in the movie. In her memoir The Beauty of Living Twice, she said she slapped the film's director Paul Verhoeven after watching a preview, saying that he promised her that her private area wouldn't be shown on screen. The filmmaker denied her comments.

However, Sharon shared an ode to Basic Instinct on social media earlier this month, posing in lingerie and heels with her legs crossed, showing off her physique. But some trolls took issue with the post cruelly saying she was "too old" to post those types of photos. "We get to grow older. It's ridiculous that you're only supposed to be OK when you're 20. What the f--k," she told the Daily Mail.

"I was getting ready to give a speech about philanthropy. And this is what I was wearing under my clothes. Paris [her stylist] said, 'Let's take a photograph'. It wasn't planned," she shared.
