The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early Friday morning homicide in which a juvenile has been arrested.

At about 2:30 a.m., deputies went to a house in the 6000 block of West Hickory Grove Road on a report of a shooting, said Capt. Randy Pollard, who heads the office’s investigations division. They found Rueben Squire, 79, dead, Pollard said. The sheriff's office did not release a cause of death.

As part of the investigation, sheriff’s office investigators accompanied by patrol, SWAT and Montgomery Police Department personnel went to Monticello Drive. A juvenile was found, arrested and charged with murder.

The juvenile’s name was not released. Alabama law bars the release of names of juveniles charged with crimes, even if they are charged as adults.

The juvenile and defendant know one another, but the sheriff’s office did not release the nature of their relationship.
