NBA superstar LeBron James took a photo with the USA women's basketball squad during the 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony. The photo went viral on social media after James was seen standing next to one of the tallest players in the WNBA, Brittney Griner.

Griner seemingly looked taller than the Los Angeles Lakers forward, which had fans in awe of the Phoenix Mercury star's height. She's listed at 6-foot-9 on ESPN's player overview, while James is also listed at 6-foot-9 on the same site as well as StatMuse and FOX Sports .

WNBA fans responded to the photo, sharing their initial reactions and throwing subtle jabs at James, given Griner's unlikely height advantage.

"Wow, BG is taller than LeBron... Nice photo," said one fan.

"BG [is] same size as Lebron," said another with a laughing emoji.

"Love that BG is taller!" said another.

"Crazy seeing LeBron James and Brittney Griner right next to each other," commented another.

Despite being one of the tallest players in the league, Griner has never been known as a great rebounder. During the first half of the 2024 WNBA season, the 33-year-old center averaged 18.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. She has never averaged double-digit rebounds in her career.

James may be the same height or potentially shorter than Griner, but his responsibilities have never been on the glass. He averaged 25.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game during the NBA's 2023–24 season.
