The artistic gymnastics competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics will begin Saturday with the men’s qualifying competition.

The women’s team qualifying event, headlined by Simone Biles , will start at 3:30 a.m. ET on Sunday. The Team USA women will compete in Subdivision 2, which starts at 5:40 a.m. ET.

For the men's competition Saturday, teams and groups of individual gymnasts are divided into three subdivisions. The United States kicks off the day in Subdivision 1 alongside Great Britain, Germany, Canada, and two groups of individual athletes from various countries.

Team USA will start on the pommel horse before moving to the rings, vault, parallel bars, horizontal bar, and concluding with the floor exercise.

The five U.S. athletes on the team are : Bro d y Malone , Fred Richard, Asher Hong, Paul Juda and Stephen Nedoroscik. The team will look to end a 16-year Olympic medal drought in the team final, with Malone and Richard standing as Team USA’s top contenders for individual medals.

During the qualifying competition, gymnasts secure their spots in the team final, all-around final and individual event finals. Four of the five Team USA gymnasts will compete on each apparatus during qualifying, with the top three scores counting toward the team’s score to qualify for the men's team final July 29. Athletes must compete on all six apparatuses and finish in the top 24 overall (and in the top two of each country ) to advance to the all-around final July 31. Gymnasts with the top eight scores from qualifying on each apparatus will also advance to the event finals, again with a maximum of two gymnasts per country.
