    In 2023, the name Cian was given to 156 baby boys born in the Republic of Ireland . That places it as the 29th most popular name for boys in the country last year.

    However, it is nowhere to be seen on the list of the most popular baby names of 2023 in the US. That is despite the popularity of many Irish names for boys including Liam, which once again topped the list in America.

    Irish names were a popular choice for parents welcoming baby boys in Ireland last year. While the most popular names were Jack, Noah, and James, many Irish names were included in the list.

    Names like Rían, Oisín, Fionn, Tadgh, Liam, and Cillian were all included in the top ten. Meanwhile, names like Paidí saw an increase in popularity, proving that Irish names remain trendy and in fashion for new parents.

    As well as Liam, popular names of Irish origin for boys in the US last year include Aiiden, Owen, and Gael. Meanwhile, Irish names for girls that proved popular include Kennedy, Sloane, and Riley.
