The video shared that "In March, 8-year-old Aleks and 11-year-old Lukasz found two abandoned Guinea Pigs in their neighborhood and adopted them with another family."

One family took a Guinea Pig, and the family of Aleks and Lukasz adopted the other Guinea Pig. As everyone in the family grew to really love the new house member, Olive became very attached.

"Now, every single day since then, [the] Rottweiler-Pit Bull mix kisses the Guinea Pig through the cage."

And that's what we see in the video. Olive is hanging out next to Bagel and throwing her tongue into the cage to give the little friend kisses.

"Studies have shown that dogs can sense when humans are stressed and that dogs relate to other species in terms of being part of the pack," the reporter adds.

"So it might be because the Rottweiler was also a rescue and understands that the Guinea Pig was abandoned and was just trying to comfort the Guinea Pig."

The video's caption explains why so many people are touched by their unusual friendship.

The caption reads, "The unique bond between this Rottweiler-Pitbull mix named Olive and a Guinea Pig named Bagel shows the power of an animal’s love."

"Our very own makeup artist, Brandy Coletta, shared the story of her family’s pets — nearly all of which have food-based names."

And in the comments, people had a lot to share about this unique family of pets.

One shared, "My dog did that and then ate them. Also, Guinea Pigs should be in pairs and not separated. They should get them back together or buy a second."

    Another wrote, "Adorable."

Someone else added, "Dog is trying to eat him."

    One shared, "Cute."

Do Dogs and Guinea Pigs Get Along?

In general, Guinea Pigs and dogs aren't the best companions, but if you introduce them, it needs to be done carefully and with intention. According to LaFeber.com , dogs and Guinea Pigs should be kept apart at night.

"Guinea pigs can easily be stressed from changes in food, water, and even bedding, so the scent or sight of a dog for these prey animals could make them ill," the site continues.

When you do start to introduce your dog to the Guinea Pigs, it should be really slow and should start with scent sharing only before moving into barriers and meetings.

It is important to know not to rush Guinea Pigs and to calm the dog. "You cannot pressure a small prey animal into liking a large animal that might have a big enough mouth to eat them whole," LaFeber.com explains.

"You have to gently guide them with positive experiences and let them escape to a secure area (like their cage) if they feel threatened."
