Andrew Tate rages over 'satanic' opening ceremony at Paris Olympics

Controversial, outspoken social media influencer Andrew Tate raged that the Paris 2024 Olympic opening ceremony was “ satanic” and slammed the West “worship the devil.”

The opening ceremony on Friday night saw the Games officially opened by French President Emmanuel Macron in the first-ever opening celebration to take place outside of a stadium, as boats paraded the athletes and performers down the River Seine.

As has customarily been the case in various opening ceremonies, the Paris Games took inspiration from France’s history in the theatrical performance. One such section showed a decapitated Marie Antoinette holding her head in her hands and exclaiming from a building on the bank of the Seine before French heavy metal band Gojira performed from ledges on the historic building and fire flashed from machines.

Antoinette was the last queen consort of France prior to the French Revolution. The wife of King Louis XVI was accused of infidelity, lavishness and an inclination toward the enemies of France. Following the king’s execution in 1793, Antoinette was tried by the Revolutionary Tribunal, with some historians believing the outcome of the trial had been pre-determined and she was sentenced to death via execution by guillotine.

Despite her significant place in France’s history, Tate slammed the scene on X as he claimed there was a dark and disturbing reason behind the section. “Satanists control the west and they show you that they worship the devil. It’s not a conspiracy theory. They literally show you. Are you blind?” Tate tweeted.

He also took issue with another section of the ceremony that appeared to feature a number of drag artists in a scene akin to Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’ painting – portraying Jesus and his twelve disciples. However, the official social media account of the Olympics dispelled the similarity, claiming it was actually an “interpretation of the Greek god Dionysus.”

Dionysus’ place in ancient Greek religion and myth is the God of wine-making, orchards and fruit, vegetation, fertility, festivity, insanity, ritual madness, religious ecstasy and theatre.

Embarking on another rant he wrote. “Olympic opening ceremony. Isnt the Olympics about hard work and discipline? This isnt even topical? The west never misses a chance to prove theyre gay. Every cultural event. You name it. "We are SO GAY!" They do not promote anything as hard as they promote homosexuality.”

Tate later added another post on X, writing: “I’m genuinely enraged by this Olympic opening. These evil scum have absolutely zero respect. They mock us so openly. When will people WAKE UP.”

The social media presence and his brother Tristian were arrested last December over allegations of rape, human trafficking and forming a criminal gang – charges they deny.
