Trent Alexander-Arnold spotted signing Real Madrid shirt on holiday before Liverpool return

Trent Alexander-Arnold isn’t exactly doing much to calm the nerves of Liverpool fans as he continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid.

The Reds vice-captain is currently on holiday following a busy international summer, having represented England at Euro 2024. He is expected to meet back up with his Liverpool teammates on Merseyside following the tour of the United States.

And there will be plenty to discuss back at the AXA Training Centre. Arne Slot has already outlined his plans to speak to Alexander-Arnold about his position in the team , but with the right-back now in the final year of his contract, his future at Anfield could come under discussion as well.

According to the ECHO , Alexander-Arnold has already briefly spoken to Slot, and it appears he will be going nowhere this summer. What his future holds beyond that though is still up in the air, with a new contract set to be a priority for sporting director Richard Hughes .

Liverpool and Alexander-Arnold’s camp though are not giving anything away though. Meanwhile, speculation over a move to Madrid continues, boosted by the Liverpool star hanging out with Jude Bellingham on holiday .

What’s more, the 25-year-old has now been pictured signing a Real Madrid shirt for a fan during his break, which will no doubt add more fuel to the fire.

Nevertheless, those at Liverpool are seemingly remaining calm over his future. Asked whether he was worried about Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation during the US tour, Slot wasn’t prepared to give anything away .

"My answer will probably be a bit boring, I think it is the same answer you have heard in the last five, six, seven years,” Slot said. “That contract situation is not discussed at this place, but just keep trying I would say!"

Liverpool.com says: As much as he deserves some time off, the sooner Alexander-Arnold returns from his holiday, the better as far as Liverpool fans are concerned. Each day he seems to have done something that fuels the speculation of a move to the Bernabeu.

Hopefully Hughes has a new contract ready and waiting for him once he returns to the AXA Training Centre. Liverpool has already let this situation drag out longer than it should have done – a new deal is an absolute must for Alexander-Arnold.
