3 Reasons The Los Angeles Rams Are Serious Contenders In 2024

The Los Angeles Rams have been up and down since winning the Super Bowl at the end of the 2021 season. With the Rams seemingly hitting every pace imaginable over the past few years, many are confused with where to set expectations for the team in 2024. However, three reasons trump all others.

Here are the main reasons why Matthew Stafford’s team will rise again in 2024.

    1. Stacked wide receiver room

Last year’s biggest takeaway was the advent of Puka Nacua. Heading into the year, many braced for the worst from the offense without Cooper Kupp. Instead, Nacua arrived to instantly fill the need at the top of the depth chart.

Now, with Kupp entering the season healthy and McVay able to draw up a game plan to harness both Kupp and Nacua, the Rams are shaping up to have a dominant passing game this season.

Both Nacua and Kupp have each logged at least one season of at least 1500 yards in the past few years. Having both on the same team could set them up to both accomplish the feat in the same season. If that happens, the floor for the Rams will be about nine wins.

    2. Resolved Matthew Stafford drama

Of course, to have a dominant passing game, one must have a starting-caliber quarterback. Not only does Stafford blow that prerequisite out of the water, but the team has resolved the contract dispute. With Stafford now fully focused on the season and not distracted about money, the offense could be even better in 2024.

The NFL is an offensive league dependent on quarterback play. With Stafford fully bought in, Nacua and Kupp are set to work like Mentos and Coca-Cola for the Rams.

    3. Heightened urgency in battle against time

While the trio of Stafford, Kupp, and Nacua is set up for a powerful showcase in 2024, it won’t last forever. Kupp has had injury troubles in past years, and now entering his 30s, his availability is far from guaranteed. Additionally, a decline could set in at any moment.

Meanwhile, Stafford is no spring chicken anymore. He likely could play for another half-decade, but one’s Super Bowl shape tends to go before their ability to start for teams or even play in the NFL. In other words, Kupp and Stafford both have reason to lock in because it might be one of their last chances to get another ring. This will elevate the Rams once again.
