3 Reasons The Dallas Cowboys Will Win The NFC East Again

The Dallas Cowboys have clogged the airwaves with their general manager’s unwillingness to tie the knot with any of his players or add any more. Aside from a few ancillary moves, the roster looks roughly the same as it did in 2023. However, that doesn’t mean the team is set up for failure.

In fact, as the reigning NFC East champions, the Cowboys have all of the momentum going into this season.

Here’s why history is due to repeat itself in 2024 despite the overblown drama.

    1. CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott facing prove-it seasons

Paid players have a reason to take it easy. Hungry players have all of the reason in the world to put on a show.

As it stands, CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott are starving. With a no-trade, no-franchise clause, Prescott could be heading into his final season with the Cowboys. That doesn’t mean he has a case of senioritis, however.

All of the plays he puts on tape will follow him into free agency, assuming he tests it. As such, he will be playing as hard as he ever has to maximize his market. The bigger the market, the more money Prescott will make.

Lamb, meanwhile, could be forced to play as hard as he can to win over Jerry Jones or another suitor. The combination could be explosive, setting the team up for success.

    2. An object in motion stays in motion

Prescott’s disastrous injury aside, the Cowboys haven’t had a sub-.500 season since 2015. As such, mathematically speaking, they have a floor of at least nine wins. Nine wins won’t win many divisions, but it has won divisions in the NFL before. If the Cowboys’ floor is a chance of winning the NFC East, what is their ceiling?

Put simply, the Cowboys by default should be in the race until the final weeks of the season. If that is the case, the Cowboys only need to play a little bit better than their floor to nab a division championship. As such, they should have a great shot to ensure a home playoff game.

    3. Eagles didn’t do enough to make a net improvement

The Philadelphia Eagles turned heads this off-season with their ability to nab Saquon Barkley from the New York Giants. However, while the Cowboys didn’t upgrade at running back, they also didn’t lose their superstar center Jason Kelce. Kelce retired after the 2023 season, effectively negating the addition of Barkley.

Getting a potential upgrade at running back is well and good, but if the center can’t open a lane, Barkley’s addition might be for naught. Additionally, it adds more pressure up the middle on Jalen Hurts, which is a huge problem.

Plus, the Eagles might have lost the heart of the Tush Push in Kelce, which might make the play much less effective.

Overall, losing Kelce outweighs any and all other additions for the Eagles.
