Sami Zayn Highlights What Makes Ilja Dragunov Different

Sami Zayn thinks Ilja Dragunov has something special.

The former NXT Champion has been on a tear since being called up to the WWE main roster. He has had incredible matches against Ricochet , Jey Uso and Bron Breakker . They have helped make him an instant star on Raw.

Ilja Dragunov recently missed out on the chance to face Sami Zayn at Summerslam. He lost a number-one contenders match to Bron Breakker on Raw, but the Intercontinental Champion still thinks the Mad Dragon has something special about him.

In an interview with Wrestling Inc , Sami Zayn revealed the special quality that makes him stand out from other wrestlers.

The Canadian claimed that Ilja Dragunov has an “innate understanding” of what makes a professional wrestling match. He said that the Russian looks like he’s “fighting for his life” in the ring, which makes him stand out from the rest of the roster.

“I think [Dragunov] is really good.” Sami Zayn said. “He has something that not a lot of people have, which is an innate understanding of the struggle that makes wrestling a beautiful thing. When he’s in there, it looks like he’s fighting for his life.”

“There’s a lot of great guys, a lot of great performers in WWE, but very few have that quality where you just really believe that this guy is deep in the trenches and it’s taking everything in him just to keep his head above water. I think that’s a great quality to have in a wrestler, and he’s got it. I don’t see it very often, and he’s definitely got it.”
