Pet Parents Trying to Have Relaxing Movie Night with American Bullys Are All Too Relatable

Dogs are born with kind and giving hearts. They eagerly explore the world through innocent eyes and begin each day with excitement and wonder. And while they are about as close to perfect as a creature could be, they can also possess a bit of a jealous side.

This is particularly true when one dog wants what the other has, especially their parent’s attention. That’s how a simple movie night at home turned into more of a comedy show for the parents of two American Bullys.

Watch this video from July 21 to see if you can relate to this not-so-unusual phenomenon.

Isn’t this always the way it works out? It’s the end of the week; we’re simply trying to relax, but our furry kids have other plans. Poor Lulu (@ lulu_andtuktuk ) isn’t pleased that her brother TukTuk is sitting on Mom’s lap and getting all her attention. Even though Dad might be available for cuddling, she specifically wants what her brother has, and she’s not shy about voicing her opinion on the matter. I’m not sure what’s more adorable, her precious face or dramatic howl, which is hard to ignore. However, her brother doesn’t seem to mind tuning out her protests (or riling her up) as he continues kissing Mom’s face. Sweet Lulu, I have no doubt Mom has plenty of love to offer you, too, but you’ll have to wait your turn or share her.

Do Dogs Get Jealous Like People?

Similar to humans, dogs can also experience jealousy , especially when it comes to their parents' attention. Even though jealousy is considered an intricate emotion, researchers have confirmed what parents already know: dogs can feel it. Experts recommend not reinforcing undesirable behaviors such as whining and barking and instead suggest using obedience training and commands to redirect their focus.

This good girl’s dramatic protests entertained people. Viewer @JessiLinneThorpe responded, “How is Lulu going to complain when her mom had a whole other side of her lap, and her dad probably had a whole lap? She could have been snuggling that whole time.” She didn’t see it that way. Viewer @goga joked, “Obviously, you picked the wrong movie. They want to watch Kevin Bacon.” Good point! Maybe it had nothing to do with her brother, after all. Viewer @Foxxs remarked, “Big lap dogs. I have a Dachshund that will whine until she’s picked up and held, especially at mealtimes.” Our four-legged friends are expert trainers of their humans.

Nothing is sweeter than having a dog request our undivided attention. Even though they may be a little dramatic sometimes, it’s one of the greatest compliments we could ever wish to receive.
