Harrison Butker has furiously responded to a scene in the Olympic opening ceremony which has been compared to the ‘The Last Supper’ with a ‘mocked God’ Bible verse.

The Kansas City Chiefs kicker took issue with a scene during the ceremony that saw a group of drag queens stretched out along a narrow table that appeared to resemble Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic painting of ‘The Last Supper,’ which portrays Jesus Christ and his disciples.

Making no bones about his religion previously on social media, Butker reacted to the scene by sharing a clip of the act that has caused controversy, among others, on the bank of the River Seine during the landmark opening of the Games.

Butker quoted the Bible verse ‘Galatians 6:7-8’ in response to the scene. “Be not deceived, God is not mocked. For what things a man shall sow, those also shall he reap. For he that soweth in his flesh, of the flesh also shall reap corruption. But he that soweth in the spirit, of the spirit shall reap life everlasting,” he wrote.

The section has since been dispelled by the official social media account of the Olympics, who reposted the scene and insisted it was an interpretation of the Greek God Dionysus. Dionysus’ place in ancient Greek religion and myth is the God of wine-making, orchards and fruit, vegetation, fertility, festivity, insanity, ritual madness, religious ecstasy and theatre. However, the scene has also been criticized by controversial social media influencer Andrew Tate .

Butker previously sparked controversy for his speech at the Benedictine College commencement in May where he ripped into abortion rights and the LGBT Pride before telling female graduates that one of their most important roles in life will be a “homemaker”. "Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world," he said.

"But I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world." Butker continued that his wife's life had "truly started" when "she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother". He added that Isabelle Butker had embraced "one of the most important titles of all: homemaker" before he appeared to become emotional when speaking about their marriage.

He later attacked IVF surrogacy, “degenerate cultural values”, “dangerous gender ideologies” and “the tyranny of diversity, equity and inclusion”. "Our nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith, but... has been so vocal in his support for the murder of innocent babies," he said in a reference to President Joe Biden’s pro-abortion stance.

His comments received furious backlash and a petition was even set up to have the Chiefs kicker removed from the team’s roster ahead of the 2025 NFL season. Butker remains on the roster and made a trip to The White House to celebrate the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory.
