It’s been a rough first year for the PlayStation VR 2. After being hyped up as a game-changer, the headset launched in early 2023 with a price tag to match the console itself, only for Sony to drastically cut back on its plans to develop new virtual reality games. But if PSVR2 is ever going to get a chance to shine, it may be now. Starting in early August, the headset will become compatible with PC (in addition to PS5), and in the lead-up to the PC launch, PSVR2 is available at its lowest price ever for a limited time.

Now, it’s true that the PSVR 2 has some flaws — such as its reliance on a wired tether to your console — but it remains a state-of-the-art experience with 120Hz OLED displays, eye tracking, and one of the comfiest fits out there for a VR headset. The naked truth is that Sony doesn’t have a whole lot of exciting new upcoming VR game releases, which may be why it’s opening up compatibility to PC gamers with a $60 adapter that will ship on August 7th.
