Walmart and Aldi vegetables, herbs recalled over listeria concern

( NewsNation ) — Close to 30 vegetables and herbs have been recalled in relation to potential contamination with listeria.

Vegetables, packaged salads and whole cucumbers were among the products from Aldi and Walmart stores across the country recalled due to precautionary measures.

Wiers Farm expanded the recall Monday after an initial recall on July 12. Products were packaged between July 5-12.

In the release, the FDA said there had no been complaints or illnesses reported at that moment. Wiers Farm “handled and distributed” the products but did not harvest them, according to the FDA.

The items in question included packaged green beans, organic bell peppers, squash, jalapenos and serranos.

Affected areas include Walmart and Aldi stores in Connecticut, West Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Delaware and Ohio.

“ALDI puts the safety and integrity of the products it sells first,” the company said in a statement Monday.

“If customers have products affected by this recall, they are advised to discard it immediately or return it to their local store for a full refund.”

A Walmart spokesperson told NBC News that it was “working with the supplier to investigate the cause.”
