Anthony Edwards boastfully believes he could be a top contender in more than one Olympic sport.

While on the United States’ boat for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics on Friday, Stephen Curry called for Edwards across the boat while also saying the U.S. women’s table tennis team believed they could keep the Timberwolves star scoreless in a hypothetical match.

More specifically, that they could beat him 21-0.

Curry brought a couple of the team members, including Lily Zhang, Amy Wang and Rachel Sung over to Edwards to hash it out, and to no surprise, he didn’t back down from the challenge.

“I got some people telling me they could beat me in ping pong 21-0,” Edwards said into a microphone. “I don’t believe it. I don’t believe it. I don’t believe it. I’m not having it.”

Edwards eventually came to some sort of reality and admitted that he could at least score one point against the women.

“11-0? I’m scoring one point,” he continued. “One point. I’m scoring.”

One of the women gave a perfect response.

“I mean, there’s only one way to try it out,” she said.

    “Whenever,” Edwards replied excitedly.

It’s not the first time Edwards has claimed to be multi-talented.

In early July, prior to the Olympics, he said he was the fastest freestyle swimmer on the U.S. men’s basketball team.

“They ain’t no swimmers,” he said to the “Today” show. “You got Joel Embiid. You got AD [Anthony Davis] and Bam [Adebayo]. They ain’t swimming fast. LeBron he ain’t swimming fast. KD [Kevin Durant], Kawhi, Tatum, they’re not swimming fast at all. So, my only challenges are Book [Devin Booker]. but he might not know how to swim at all. Jrue [Holliday], he might drown. And [Tyrese] Haliburton, oh my god. If Haliburton beat me, then I just need to never touch the water again.”

Edwards also said in 2020 that he could be the best in any competition if there was “money on the line.”

The two-time All-Star and Team USA begin their quest for their fifth consecutive gold medal on Sunday against Serbia at 11:15 a.m. ET.
