Losing someone we love is difficult but at least we have the memories they leave us with to hold on to. Sometimes, they might leave belongings as keepsakes that take on a totally different meaning to us once those are the only physical things we have left of our time with them. One DIYer obviously loves and misses their stepmother so they took wristwatches she left behind and turned them into a a timeless home decor piece. Instead of wearing the watches as-is or displaying them in a case, the crafty DIYer turned each one into a number on a clock .

"My stepmother passed away almost 2 years ago," the DIYer shared in their Barry Allen Facebook group —  a group dedicated to sharing the coolest secondhand finds found at thrift stores, estate sales, or in this case — handed down from loved ones.

"I found a bunch of watches that she had. I tried to figure out what I could do with them," they shared.  And boy, did they get creative!

"Instead of replacing the battery she must have just purchased a new one. Anyway, I took the bands off of them, set each one on the hour, bought this unfinished wood from Michael's and stained it. I assembled the clock mechanism and then glued the watch faces onto the wood. The pink one at the top is set at 12:00 and so on. It was a creative way to remember her in a functional way. It turned out pretty cool."

Their comments were immediately flooded with praise for the thoughtful keepsake. So many were inspired to try something similar with watches they also owned from loved ones who've passed on.

"Such a fabulous and unique way of using something of your stepmother’s to remember her by,"one person wrote. "I can’t think of anything more fitting than what you did. Great job!!"

"What a genius idea, such a great thing to do too. Not sure I have enough of my Nans for that but I do have 4 of her watches so can do 3,6,9 and 12......I may just give that a go, thank you for sharing!"

"I have a bowl full of watches from my in-laws and dad who passed and wondered what to do," another wrote. "Now I know! Thank you!"
