    Yesterday’s news

    - Boulder’s Taylor Knibb crashed multiple times in rainy conditions, finishing 19th in a field of 34 in the 32-kilometer cycling time trial.

“It was an experience,” Knibb told Cycling Weekly. “The first third was great. The middle one, that’s where it all went wrong. And then the third one it was more survival than anything else. I was fully blind, my Garmin fell off on the first one. I’m like, ‘Well, here we go!'”

Knibb will also compete in the triathlon Wednesday.

    - Nuggets guard Jamal Murray scored eight points with three assists in 18 minutes off the bench in his Olympic debut as his native Canada topped Greece 86-79 in pool play.

    - Colorado Springs resident Alexis Lagan finished 25th in qualifying in the women’s 10-meter Air Pistol, failing to make the top eight that advanced.

Lagan will compete Friday in the 25m Pistol.

    Three to watch

Looking ahead to Sunday’s Olympic action with a focus on those with Colorado connections.

    1. Denver’s Emma Weber, a Regis Jesuit grad (like Missy Franklin) will be in the pool for the qualifying rounds of the 100-meter breaststroke.

    2. Three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic will lead Serbia into a group play matchup with Team USA, a squad that includes Parker-native and former UCCS standout Derrick White.

    3. Highlands Ranch native Jess Thoennes will compete in heats in women’s pair rowing.
