‘Hezbollah Is Murdering Next Generation Of Israeli Athletes’: Israel Says Golan Heights Rocket Attack Killed Kids, Teens Playing Soccer

Israeli officials have pointed to terror group Hezbollah for a rocket attack in Israel that killed at least 12 on Saturday, and which IDF spokesman Adm. Daniel Hagari called “the deadliest attack on Israeli civilians since October 7th.”

Fox News anchor Arthel Neville on Saturday reported that “Israeli authorities say one rocket landed on a soccer field in the Golan Heights. An IDF spokesman said all the victims who died were children and youth.”

The IDF shared photos and information on various platforms including Telegram, Instagram, and X/Twitter, including blaming the attack on Hezbollah.

“While athletes from around the world are competing at the #Olympics2024, Hezbollah is murdering the next generation of Israeli athletes,” read one message posted by the IDF on Saturday. “A group of children enjoying life’s simple pleasures was murdered in cold blood when a Hezbollah rocket hit the soccer field in the Druze village of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights, killing 11 and injuring dozens more.”

Hebollah has denied responsibility, saying in a statement to Newsweek that “The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon categorically denies allegations made by some ‘Israeli’ media outlets and various media platforms about its involvement in targeting Majdal Shams.”

A spokeperson with the White House security council issued a statement Saturday condemning the attack and reaffirming support for Israel, “against all Iranian backed terrorist groups, including Lebanese Hezbollah.”
