CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Dozens of volunteers across Mount Pleasant and Cabarrus County worked to combat food insecurity Saturday.

Partnered with the nonprofit, ‘ Rise Against Hunger ‘, volunteers packed more than 75 thousand meals for people impacted by food insecurity. Volunteers filled bags with rice, soy and dehydrated vegetables, which will be sent to people facing hunger all around the world.

Jason Haulbrook, Regional Director of the nonprofit says one small action can make a large impact.

This is the 13th year this event has been hosted.

Volunteers have packaged over 580 thousand meals since 2011.
