Anthony Davis Issues Serious Warning To Team USA Amid Chase For Olympic Gold

It's finally time. Team USA will begin their quest for another gold medal at the Olympics. On the men's side, though, there is some doubt surrounding the team.

Lackluster tune-up wins against South Sudan and Germany dampened some fans' hopes. To make things worse, reports about Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis having illnesses have fans worried.

Ahead of their opener against Serbia, Davis stressed the importance of execution in their games. The Los Angeles Lakers star said that they have already hashed out their flaws in practice but that they have to be near-perfect once the games start.

"When that first game starts, it's time to go and it counts for real," Davis said. "Our mistakes that we made, have been corrected, talked about, watched in film. So now, we have to play almost perfect basketball, mistake-free basketball, if we want to win a gold medal."

Team USA is the overwhelming favorite to win the Olympic gold medal. That's the reality when you have LeBron, KD, and Steph. However, some of their wins have not been as convincing as one would like.

Their tune-up series shows that Team USA cannot coast by with pure talent alone. The rest of the world is catching up, and it's up to them to fend off those trying to challenge their title.

Team USA's first Olympics game is against Nikola Jokic and Serbia.  Afterwards, they take on South Sudan again and Puerto Rico to finish group play.
