The seven-time Olympic medalist is scheduled to compete for the first time at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday at the women’s qualifying competition, which begins at 3:30 a.m. ET.
Gymnasts are split into five subdivisions. Team USA is competing with Italy and China in Subdivision 2, which is scheduled to begin at 5:40 a.m. Biles and Team USA will begin on the balance beam, before moving to the floor exercise, vault and the uneven bars.
Four of the five gymnasts will compete in each event during the qualifying round. The top three scores will count toward a team score, used to determine which eight countries advance to the team final July 30. Biles, like any other gymnast hoping to earn their spot, will have to finish in the top 24 overall (and in the top two of American gymnasts) to advance to the all-around final Aug. 1. The top eight gymnasts on each apparatus (with a maximum of two per country ) will also advance to the finals of each event.
