The Olympics take priority in the basketball world, as the WNBA has paused its season to allow the world's best athletes to compete in the 2024 Summer Games in Paris.
Many of the top women's players are on Team USA, which has a history of dominance at the Olympics. The women's basketball team has won nine of 12 gold medals since women's basketball was recognized at the Summer Games in 1976.
Team USA won its first gold medal in 1984 and has won seven straight since 1996. The United States can capture its 10th straight gold medal in 2024 with a squad of WNBA superstars.
The U.S. isn't the only contender for gold, though. The rest of the field is still talented despite not having the history of gold medals to back them up.
