Timely hitting and Billy Windley's complete-game shutout propelled MOT to the Little League Major Division state championship 3-0 over Naamans on Saturday night.

The state champions advance to represent Delaware at the Little League Mid-Atlantic Regional in Connecticut where they open play against Maryland on Sunday, Aug. 4.

"Heading to Bristol, kids are looking forward to a road trip and we'll be ready to go," manager Kevin Bailey said.

Windley limited Naamans to three hits while striking out 10 and walking one.

"He did a nice job just controlling the game," Bailey said of Windley's six-inning performance. "(He) got a lot of pop-ups and ground-outs and just did a nice job of keeping their hitters off balance."

Windley also contributed two RBIs – including doubling in the first run of the game in the first inning after Dawson Soldo led off with a single and stole second.

MOT scored once in the first, third and fourth innings to build their lead while playing error-free in the field.

"It was fun. The defense was amazing behind me; they couldn't be any better. They hit amazing, just couldn't be better," Windley said.

Naamans, who also got a complete-game pitching performance from Anthony Catalina, had their best scoring chance in the final inning.

Naamans got their second and third hits of the game to put runners on the corners but Windley worked his final strikeout of the night to start the celebration for the hosts.

"They put a little heat on us at the end," Bailey said. "Their kids did a nice job putting the barrel on the ball on that last inning but we were able to make a few plays to close it out."

MOT won its first game 5-3 against Lewes on Thursday to go 2-0 in the three-team tournament of district champs.
