Simone Biles suffered a leg injury before posting the highest all-around score through three gymnastics subdivisions of qualifying at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday (July 28).

Biles, 27, the most decorated American gymnast in history, briefly left the floor with USA team doctor Marcia Faustin after her opening beam routine, but returned shortly after. USA gymnastics coach Cecile Landi said Biles had initially experienced the leg pain a couple weeks ago and described it as minor, noting that there was no discussion of Biles being pulled from the event.

"I can't express it," Landi said via ESPN . "I'm really proud of her and what she's been through and what she's showing the world what she's capable of doing."

Biles was heard on camera saying she felt calf pain before stepping onto the competition floor with her leg taped and performing her floor routine to Taylor Swift 's song ' ...Ready for It? .'

"We told her to remind herself, like she's capable of doing it," Cecile Landi said via ESPN . "She knows she's got it and it's OK, and then she did. So really excited for her."

Biles scored 15.800 on the vault, 14.433 on the uneven bars and 14.733 on the floor exercise for a total score of 59.566 for the highest all-around overall score, followed by USA teammates Suni Lee at 56.132 and Jordan Chiles at 56.065.

Biles enters the 2024 Paris Games with four gold, one silver and two bronze medals in Olympic play and a combined total of 29 gold, five silver and five bronze through Olympic, World Championships and Pacific Rim Championships competition.
