Tank Dell 2024 Fantasy Outlook: The Best WR3 in Fantasy

Tank Dell is coming off a historic rookie season for the Houston Texans in just 11 games played thanks to a broken fibula that ended his season last year. The Houston Texans are one of the hottest teams for the 2024 season because of this offense led by CJ Stroud with this new WR trio of Dell, Stephon Diggs, and Nico Collins.

Tank Dell is the fastest of the three and can run the whole route tree so he is expected to play mostly in the slot splitting reps with Diggs there. It’ll be interesting to see how the Diggs acquisition will impact both Collins and Dell’s numbers this season. Dell will excel in his new role especially if he stays healthy throughout the season like expected. Let’s look back at Dell’s 2023 season.

Tank Dell 2023 Production

Dell had 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns last season receiving in his rookie year. The seven touchdowns broke the Houston Texans franchise rookie record for touchdown receptions. Like I said previously the broken fibula halted a potentially great season for the former University of Houston prospect. Dell was probably going to have at least ten touchdowns by the end of the year if he stayed healthy all the way through the campaign. Dell had 165.0 points in ESPN fantasy in just 11 games.

Fantasy Pros had him ranked as the WR38 last year by their metrics last season. Posting a 31% air yards share and over 1,000 air yards as a rookie last year made Dell one of the top deep threats of the 2023 season making him a huge big play asset in fantasy football.

Tank Dell 2024 Projection

Dell is projected to have 70 receptions for 933 yards and 6 receiving touchdowns while adding 16 carries for 93 yards and a touchdown rushing on ESPN Fantasy for the 27 ranked spot among wideouts on ESPN fantasy football next season.

Meanwhile on Fantasy Pros, Dell’s ECR is WR32 with the 12th easiest strength of schedule for wideouts in 2024. Fantasy Pros has his stat line with 69 receptions for 941 yards and seven touchdowns next season. Dell could still fight for the team lead in targets even with Stephon Diggs on the team now, as Dell outperformed Collins in a lot of meaningful fantasy metrics including Fantasy points per game, meaning if Dell is really back to the 2023 level he could steal some of Diggs shine as well in 2024.

Tank Dell will be the most electric WR3 on any team next season because of the experience he had at WR2 last season along with the play of Stroud will take another huge leap because of the explosive trio of wide receivers. Dell will learn a lot from Stephon Diggs throughout this season especially how to read the defense a little bit more and how to efficiently run those routes more precisely to get open for Stroud more often.

Final Thoughts

Dell is going to be a coveted WR3 in fantasy this season so if you can get him late in the draft it’s going to be a steal because people are thinking his numbers are going to dip. But his numbers aren’t going to dip so try to get him around the fifth to sixth rounds of your drafts if you can. The only concern is the rust due to the broken fibula but he’s expected to be fully recovered and ready to go for the beginning of the season.

I personally think that Dell is going to be one of the best WR3s in the history of fantasy football because of the potential of electric plays deep down the field along with the quick routes he’s going to get when he’s in the slot this season. I feel if he goes in the fourth round that person that drafted him is thinking the same line as myself.
